About Wynand Botes
Wynand is a Mining Engineer with almost 20 years’ experience in the mining industry, both in production and project work. Currently he is an Entrepreneur, Director and Independent Mining Consultant. As Independent Mining Consultant, Wynand provides mining companies with project management assistance, strategic / business planning, owners team representation, mining engineering support, innovation & thought leadership.
His previous roles include
Transaction Lead Strategy and JV’s
At Anglo American (Platinum Business Unit), where he assisted some of the companies’ struggling mines with strategies to find value and also look for ways in which the company can add value to their JV partnerships.
Principal Mining Studies
At Anglo American, where he was responsible for the mining discipline of mining studies in the African region.
Technical Services Manager and Practice Manager
(Mining and New Technology)
At Worley, where he led a strong team of Mining Engineers, Mine Planning Engineers, Geotech/ Rock Engineers and the Geology Discipline, that focused on innovative new solutions for clients, by leveraging new and known technologies.

Wynand is an experienced professional and leader, who has been part of and led various types of projects in numerous countries, which include the following commodities: Coal, Manganese, Gold, Copper, Cobalt, Nickel, Iron Ore, Platinum, Alumina, Uranium, Vanadium, Fluorspar and Aggregates.
Wynand is a member of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM) and has a Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency for Coal Mines from the Department of Mineral Resources.
